Between the Albanian government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was signed the Grant Agreement. This agreement with value of 18 million euros provides for Vlora bypass construction.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance Mr. Shkelqim Cani and the Director for Western Balkans, Mr. Holger Muent. Minister Cani stated that this grant of 18 million euros, which is available for construction of Vlora bypass, but also for the road to the south, meets the appropriate value of 53 million euros needed for these investments.
"These investments will improve infrastructure, will avoid excessive movement and pollution in Vlora city. Also, the level of traffic control will increase, especially during the summer season", said Cani. The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Mr. Edmond Haxhinasto who was present in the ceremony said that works will start in March.
"There are huge benefits resulting from this project, such as tourism, environment, transport". The project will lead also to positive impact in Vlora property market.
We will sign the document for commencement of works within March 2015. The project is designed to be realized for 30 months. Works must be completed in the highest quality possible”, said Mr. Haxhinasto.
